Trials

This morning, I read about a young father who recently died.  I don't know him.  But there was a link on my social media site, and I read the blog.

It is such an emotional story, even with just the few details that were shared.  I am so grateful for the words that were shared by the last writer, who is this man's cousin and best friend.

"I've had people tell me how interesting it is that my blog is full of personal trials - my two-year old daughter being diagnosed with a brain tumor, losing my mom in a car accident three years ago, and now this.  My trials are no more difficult than yours, they just happen to be things that can be talked about openly.  We all have difficult trials, most of them quiet, private, and painful.

I do know that these trials change us.  They make us better people and refine our characters.  I believe that is the point of life - to become better today than we were yesterday.  I take great solace in knowing that families are forever, God lives and loves us, and that there is life that continues after we die.  The attitude by which we deal with our trials is key.
