The Inevitable

So.  This kid is growing up.   More.
Dang it.

He was super excited to go to the temple for the first time!

He got to have a birthday party, which he was very excited about.
Due to his back injury, we had to do something different than what he originally wanted to do.  He originally wanted to have a giant Nerf dart fight with all of his soccer team mates, and all of his friends!  It was going to be huge.

We ended up having a big screen video game battle!  But we were only able to invite a fraction of the friends that he would have liked to.  We borrowed the neighbor's projector and a newer game system (Wii U) from Stephanie's friend.  We projected the game onto the wall in the big room, and it was epic!
Here are his core bff's, singing Happy Birthday to him.
It was fun!

Yesterday (way after his birthday) we took his birthday pictures.
So far, these are the only ones I have had time to edit.  I could be editing more, but I decided to get this post written first.

This is the celebratory "Last Day in Primary" picture.
He has been counting down the weeks for quite a while now, noting that he loves his teachers and will miss them, but he is ready to move on to the Young Men group.  So ready.

The next 5 pictures are from his actual birthday.
Stephanie came into the room with "The Beatles" song "Happy Birthday" playing, and it was quite awesome.  Barrett loved it.  She also gave him some chocolate covered breadstick things.  I think they are called "Poki"?  I don't remember.

He wanted to go to Thanksgiving Point for his birthday.  So we did.
As we stopped and looked into the part where the paleontologists work, one of them came out to talk to us.  His name is Tim.
Barrett had a million questions for him, and he answered all of them.  A couple of questions that we had, he went and found answers to, and then tracked us down in the museum to tell us what he found out.
It was extremely awesome.

Barrett picked Salt City Burgers for his birthday dinner.
It was very, very delicious.
If you haven't been there, you should go.  Wow!

Later in the week, we went to The Living Aquarium with his friend Jaxon W.  It was fun!  I love being with these friends.  We had a great time.

Barrett was ordained to the office of Deacon.
He passed the Sacrament last week in Sacrament Meeting.
He was very dignified and reverent.

Today, he went to the doctor to see how his back is healing.  He is doing well.  The doctor said he can start physical therapy and can swim, walk and bike now.  He should be able to start running and sports again in 4 to 6 weeks if the pain stays under control.
So it was good news.
