Barrett and Preschool

Okay, so Barrett is 4 years old now. He is the only child left at home now that school is in. It is his last year of this innocence as he will begin Kindergarten next fall. As parents we have decied that he really is a social enough kid that he isn't someone that we feel needs to go to preschool, which hopefully doesn't backfire. We have purchased a pass to the children's museum, called Discovery Gateway, and we have already been there this week. It was wonderful to follow him around and let him set the pace. We were there for about 2 1/2 hours on Monday and he only went to about 3 parts of the museum on the first floor. (There are 3 levels at the museum.) He was especially in love with the construction zone that has a crane that kids can lift and lower foam bricks. We were there for at least an hour.

We also have been to the library and will be signing up for the reading time twice a week there. Murray has the BEST library! We just love to go there and all the librarians know us and they treat us so well! Hopefully this will give Barrett the idea of what classroom behavior is like. Church should do that too, but I have seen his behavior at church firsthand. Kindergarten may take a while to get used to. We are willing to take that chance.

I just love having him at home and doing things one on one with him. He is such a good boy, especially when he is by himself. I think 4 year olds are wonderful!
